Nightguards & Splints

Night Guards

Night guards, also known as occlusal guards or bite splints, are dental appliances worn during sleep to address bruxism, the habit of grinding or clenching teeth. Made from materials like acrylic or soft plastic, night guards act as a barrier between upper and lower teeth, reducing the impact of grinding forces.

Athletic Mouth Guard

Athletic mouth guards, also known as sports mouth guards or mouth protectors, are dental appliances designed to prevent injuries to the teeth, gums, and jaws during sports and recreational activities. They act as a cushion, absorbing and distributing impact forces to reduce the risk of broken or knocked-out teeth, cuts to the lips and tongue, and jaw injuries. Custom-made mouth guards offer the best fit and protection. They are made from materials like thermoplastic or silicone.

Deprogrammer Appliance

A deprogrammer appliance is a dental device designed to temporarily alter the occlusion (bite) and relax jaw muscles. Used for diagnosing and treating temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, bruxism, and bite-related problems, it creates a temporary separation between upper and lower teeth. This helps assess the natural jaw position, identify occlusal issues, and guide treatment planning. There are different types of deprogrammer appliances, including flat plane and anterior deprogrammers. They are used temporarily and may be custom-made for individual patients.

Sleep Orthotic

A sleep orthotic, or mandibular advancement device (MAD), is a dental device used to address sleep-disordered breathing, such as snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). By repositioning the lower jaw and tongue during sleep, it aims to keep the airway open, reducing airway obstruction and improving breathing. MADs, a common type of sleep orthotic, advance the lower jaw forward, creating more space at the back of the throat. They are suitable for individuals with mild to moderate OSA or snoring, especially those who cannot tolerate continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy.

Bleaching Tray

A bleaching tray, also known as a teeth whitening tray or bleaching splint, is a dental device used for at-home teeth whitening procedures. Custom-made trays, crafted by a dentist based on impressions of the patient’s teeth, offer a snug fit and even gel distribution. The trays are typically made of flexible materials like soft plastic or silicone. Customization ensures effectiveness and prevents excessive contact with the gums.
